OFFERAMA 2025

This is the last Sunday of Offerama month!

Offerama is a Province-Wide initiative, in the month of May, of generosity for special projects connected to sharing the love of Christ and supporting the needs of various societies and people groups. 

We hope you take time to view the designations for 2025 and consider how you might support them.

Bethesda has set a church goal of $10,000 that will aid in supporting the provincial goal of $350,000. To give, please note ‘Offerama’ on your contribution.

 
 

VBS

We’re so excited for this year’s Live It Out VBS! Registrations for Preschool VBS, Elementary VBS and Family Experience are now OPEN!

Imagine a week where kids not only hear about Jesus’ love but also learn to express that love through their actions - praying, loving, serving, forgiving and showing simple acts of kindness!

Opportunities you don’t want to miss

plan to protect volunteer training

Plan to Protect is mandatory training for all adult volunteers or youth (ages 12-17) volunteers who work with children, youth, or vulnerable adults.  

We are offering 2 different ONLINE sessions on Monday, May 26th. Please register for the session that you need.

The Refresher Session from 7 PM - 7:30 PM is required for all current volunteers or youth (age 12-17) volunteers. If you currently volunteer but are unsure if your Plan to Protect is up to date, please contact our church office.

The Orientation Session from 7:30 PM - 8:30 PM is required for all new volunteers.

Graduation Celebration

We are incredibly fortunate to have individuals in our Church Family who are celebrating various educational milestones and achievements.

With that in mind, we are so excited to be hosting a special graduation celebration on Sunday, June 8th, immediately following our 11 AM service.

There will be light refreshments provided, as well as a special graduation presentation for all of our graduates!

WORSHIP & PRAYER GATHERINGS

Join us for a powerful evening of worship and prayer as we seek God’s presence together. These special gatherings are designed to uplift your spirit, deepen your faith, and strengthen our community.

Prime Time People (50+)

The Prime Time People (50+) Ministry will be holding its monthly meeting on May 29, 2025 at 5:30 PM.

Our speaker for the event will be Pastor Paul Grimes. He will be speaking about his books, which are a compilation of sermons from pastors from Newfoundland and Labrador, some dating back many years. In case he brings along some copies for sale, you may want to have some cash on hand.

You won’t want to miss this Newfoundland themed meeting. Feel free to wear your Newfoundland tartan items and/or your Cape Ann.

We have cod au gratin on the menu. This will include cod au gratin, potatoes and Caesar salad as well as a dinner roll. Please inform us if you need a substitute.

Tickets will be on sale in the foyer on May 18 and 25, 2025 at a cost of $12.00.

YOUTH BREAKAWAY

Youth Breakaway Camp is an annual 5-day (4 night) summer camp for teens, purposefully designed to provide opportunities for students to explore faith in an environment suited for spiritual growth and the development of meaningful relationships with peers and mentors, amidst all sorts of excitement.

YB 1 registration deadline is June 1 at a cost of $270.

VBS VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

It takes a large group of volunteers to make VBS happen! From setting up the building, to preparing snacks and crafts, to leading small groups and stations - the opportunities to serve are endless!

Whether you want to join us for a decorating night in the next few weeks or are ready to lead a crew during VBS week, we are looking for your help to make this VBS one that our kids will remember!

WOW SPRING BREAKFAST

Our Women of Worth Team is excited to announce the details for the upcoming WOW Spring Breakfast!

The breakfast will take place at The Holiday Inn on Saturday June 14th. Featuring guest speaker, Stephanie Snow and a fashion feature by Sharingtons.

MUN BUS

We know that it can be so easy to miss out on attending church because of the inconveniences that arise as a student. In 2016 we realized that many of our students were seeking rides to and from MUN campus each Sunday, so we have been providing a bus to help students attend the 11 AM service ever since. 

This is a free transportation service for students/families/individuals who live near or on Memorial Campus.

Located at 57A Thorburn Road in St. John’s - we are dedicated to welcoming and supporting newcomers to Canada through various services including:

NETGroup Workshop: Coping With StreSS for newcomers

Are you a newcomer? Feeling stressed? Facing employment-related challenges and not sure how to cope? You’re not alone — and support is available.

In this session, we will learn and grow together by exploring common stressors newcomers face, particularly around employment, and how these challenges affect our mental health. We’ll discuss practical coping strategies to manage stress, maintain well-being, and build resilience.

This workshop is being hosted by the Newcomers Employment Training Group on Thursday June 5th from 7:00PM-8:30PM NDT.

Belairdirect Scholarship Program

 Belairdirect is offering 50 scholarships worth $1,000 each to eligible students completing high school in 2025 and beginning post-secondary education in the fall of 2025.

Qualifying children or grandchildren of members are eligible to apply and it is not necessary to be insured with Belairdirect for Home or Auto Insurance to make application.

This ministry serves mature adults who are seeking opportunities for connection. These monthly gatherings (the last Thursday of each month) are themed banquet meals with presentations and entertainment.

The next Prime Time People (50+) Ministry gathering is Thursday, May 29th at 5:30 PM.

Tickets for each gathering go on sale the two Sundays prior in the church foyer.
